I have been a nurse for 31 years, with 22 of those years in critical care, where I worked as the unit manager for ICU and IMCU for about 6 years. I have been part of the Navy Nurse Corps for my entire nursing career and have spent 10 of those years on active duty, 4 early in my career, and now I have been on AC duty for about 5 years. In those 5 years, I was the CNO for GTMO and my role as a Senior Executive Nursing Advisor for the corps. What I love the most about my most recent roles as the ICU/ IMCU manager, CNO, and Executive advisor is the ability to influence change by having a seat at the table when decisions are made and it has been immensely rewarding to lead teams creating a culture of respect, transparency and ownership
