I have been a Pediatric Emergency Department nurse for the past seven years. I have worked in a variety of Children's Hospitals across the US and South Africa. I dabbled as an Adult Emergency Department RN PRN/Flex for a bit but soon realized adult patients need more coddling and end up crying a bit more than the kiddos ;-)
I am in the Nursing Leadership & Health Care Systems (iLEAD) MSN program at University of Colorado, Anschutz. Through the skills I learned in this program as well as my work experience, I am now the Clinical Manager of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's Hospital Colorado. The change from an ED to a PICU has been exciting and full of learning opportunities.
My long term career goals lie with hospital leadership - director level to executive level. My career dream would be to open or run an HIV clinic to ultimately put myself out of a job by helping to end the HIV crisis.
