Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. Maya Angelou
I am a nurse first, and that still shapes how I think about this work.
For much of my clinical career, I worked in a per diem pool. I chose that path for flexibility while raising a family, but I consistently worked full time hours and weekends. It worked because it met both needs, it gave me control over my schedule and helped the hospital cover real gaps.
That experience stayed with me. I saw how valuable flexible staffing is to clinicians, and how often it sits outside of core workforce strategy. It is relied on, but not always built or supported in a consistent way.
I’ve spent my career since then working in workforce, staffing, and operations alongside nursing leaders and staffing teams.
Today I serve as VP, Nursing and Workforce Innovation at ShiftMed, focused on helping organizations bring more structure, visibility, and flexibility into how they staff.
Before ShiftMed, I spent time with two of the largest travel staffing organizations, including work on the VMS side. It has given me an unique view of how the different workforce models actually function day to day, not just how they are designed.
I’ve also had a chapter in entrepreneurship, which shaped how I think about accountability, relationships, and building things that last.
I genuinely enjoy meeting new people in this field, learning how others are solving problems, and building real connections along the way.
