Bio Overview

Focus on nurses’ empowerment and innovation in order to achieve exemplary outcomes through transformational leadership and shared governance: Majeda A. Al-Ruzzieh is the Chief Nursing Officer at King Hussien Cancer Center (KHCC), Amman/ Jordan since 2008.  In her current role she provides oversight and direction in establishing and maintaining a system for developing, reviewing, approving and disseminating standards of nursing practice, quality, education, clinical operation, policy making and nursing research. Representing nursing in the highest decision making and executive boards at KHCC. 

Under Dr. Al-Ruzzieh leadership, KHCC is the first hospital in Jordan, 10th hospital outside US to achieve Magnet® Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) on April, 2019 and 2nd re-designation in in 2024. This distinction was achieved through shared governance (SG), autonomous professional nursing practice, and structural empowerment of nurses across the organization. Additionally, nursing professional development was emphasized by establishing the first Oncology Nursing Residency Program in Jordan which was accredited from ANCC.

Believing the importance of professional governance for nursing, she is working with her staff and senior leaders to help her ensure a solid foundation of knowledge, trust, and mutual respect to facilitate implementation. Then she mentored nurse leaders to become transformational leaders in advancing the journey towards nursing excellence by establishing professional shared governance. Dr. Al-Ruzzieh has led KHCC nursing toward becoming the 1st Jordanian hospital to completely transform itself to this degree, achieving accreditation from shared governance forum US to be the 1st in the Middle East with such distinction thereby becoming a significant leader in the Middle East and Internationally for excellence in nursing practice and related patient care outcomes. Furthermore, she established the 1st Oncology Nursing Residency Program (ON-RP) in Jordan, which was accredited with distinction as the first of its kind in Jordan and the 2nd in the Middle East by the ANCC in 2022

As of January 2024, Dr. Majeda successfully completed the Person-Centered Care (PCC) Professional Certificate Program. She becomes the first in Jordan to be credentialed as a Fellow in Person-Centered Care (FPCC) by Planetree® International. This prestigious distinction recognizes Dr. Majeda’s leadership in demonstrating a personal and professional commitment to upholding the values of person-centered care.

In 2013 Dr. Alruzzieh was awarded by HRH Princess Mona Al-Hussien National Award: Nursing Leadership and Management in Jordan (Rufaida Alaslamiah Medal for the Best Nurse Leader) by The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC).
