Juan Cazares Gonzalez is a Registered Nurse at Mayo Clinic with a clinical specialty in Radiology, where he provides diagnostic and therapeutic care, monitors patient safety during procedures, and educates patients on radiation safety and prevention. He began his Mayo Clinic career in 2014 as a Patient Care Assistant in the Medical/Surgical/Transplant ICU and has since advanced through a range of leadership and governance roles.
Juan currently serves as the Chair of the Mayo Nursing Council (MNC), where he partners with nurses and nursing leadership to strengthen professional governance, improve nursing practice, and drive strategic initiatives across the institution. He has also contributed as a Magnet Champion, Quality Improvement Leader, and Staff Nurse Recruiter—supporting the recruitment and retention of a diverse and talented nursing workforce.
Juan holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winona State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Rochester Community and Technical College. He is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Leadership and Healthcare Innovation. In 2022, he received the Registered Nurse Achievement Award, recognizing his clinical excellence and leadership impact.
Outside of clinical practice, Juan is committed to equity in education. He serves on the Board of Directors for Listos Preschool and Childcare, Rochester’s first dual-language immersion program, supporting access to high-quality bilingual education in Spanish and English.
