I am the nurse manager of the thoracic cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU) at the University of Virginia Medical Center. As the leader of a high acuity ICU, everyday provides differing challenges and responsibilities. In my role, I manage a 28-bed unit, and around 140 staff members. My favorite thing about my job is engaging with staff to provide a positive work culture. I also enjoy working on nursing retention, quality improvement, and facilitating real time root cause problem solving.
In 2006, I began my UVA career as a patient care assistant in the same unit I manage today.
