Dr. Holmes works as the Director of Nursing for Education, Professional Practice, Standards & Research at Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar. Previous posts include Nurse Researcher, Director of Nursing for Staff Development and Research, Assistant, and Associate Professor. Dr. Holmes worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse for Adult Health and Geriatric services, and as a staff nurse across multiple specialties. She received her Masters’ and Ph.D. degrees in nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN in 1999, and 2007, respectively. Her bachelor's degree in nursing was conferred in 1994 from Memphis State University. She entered nursing as a Diploma graduate from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1992. She has multiple publications and presentations. Her research interests include diabetes, gastroparesis, nursing education, and evidence-based practice development.
