Christy Nation, a registered nurse for thirty years, currently holds the position of CNO at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham.
Christy chose a career in nursing because of her interest in science and love of serving people. In leadership roles since 2003, she is motivated by a strong work ethic and believes accountability is key to successful leadership. Christy enjoys caring for the staff that care for patients and thrives when mentoring staff and leaders toward excellence.
Christy received the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samford University in 1995 and Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Saint Francis in 2014. She graduated from UAB School of Nursing in December of 2025 with a DNP in executive leadership. She also completed the Quality Academy Certificate, Department of Health Sciences Administration, UAB in 2020. Christy is a recent graduate of Momentum Leaders in Medicine at UAB, Class 3.
Christy serves on the Birmingham March of Dimes Board as well as Mother’s Milk Bank of Alabama Board of Directors. Christy is the current president for the Alabama Organization for Nursing Leadership. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, serving as the Membership Ambassador for Nu at-Large Chapter. Christy has also been recognized for various honors such as Nurse Director of the Year 2009 and 2013, Ida V. Moffett Courage to Care Award 2009 and B Metro Excellence in Nursing Award 2013.
